This course is designed as an introduction to sociology that focuses focusing
on theories, methodstheories, methods and basic sociologic concepts. The student
will study social institutions that shape and influence the behavior of the
individual and groups in society with emphasis on examining contemporary social
problems. The basic purpose of the course is to help students examine their
place in society.
