Lansdale School of Business Annual Commencement Ceremony

Lansdale School of Business held its 90th Annual Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 2nd, 2008 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Lansdale. Marking its 90th year as an educational institution of higher learning, more than 75 graduate candidates were in attendance to receive their diplomas/degrees and more than 150 students officially graduated. Lansdale School of Business was founded April 1, 1918, by Walter E. Wireback and Wilbur M. Frantz, to prepare servicemen and women to re-enter the job force following World War I. At that time LSB offered secretarial skills and bookkeeping classes. LSB has expanded markedly over the years being granted accreditation status in 1967 and gaining approval to issue Associate Degrees in 1981. LSB currently offers nine diploma and 10 Associate Degree programs organized in three academic divisions.

The Commencement Ceremony included remarks by President, Marlon D. Keller and William S. Aichele, Chairman and President/CEO of Univest Corporation of Pa. Presentation of special awards were bestowed by Executive Director, Marianne H. Johnson and Dean David P. Heffley. The LSB Staff Award was given to Michael Heacock, a Marketing/Management Associate Degree graduate. The LSB Day Faculty Award went to Susan M. Kerr (sponsored by Univest) with Kellie Marie Gramlich picking up the Evening Faculty Award (sponsored by The Reporter). Outstanding Graduate honors were given to Kelly S. Ausherman with dual-sponsorship by Harleysville National Bank and Lansdale School of Business.
