ASSOCIATE IN SPECIALIZED BUSINESS DEGREE: PARALEGAL
The Paralegal Program provides critical thinking in the skills necessary to assist an attorney and manage a legal office. A wide variety of career opportunities is available when you decide to enter one of today’s fastest growing occupations. A paralegal will do research, analyze information, and prepare written reports to assist the attorney. Paralegals may also interview witnesses, obtain affidavits, and assist the attorney during the trial. Upon graduation, students will be prepared to apply their skills in private law firms, government agencies, real estate and insurance firms, banks, and corporate law departments.
Computer research, course work in a variety of legal specialties, and practical legal skills are among the highlights of this program. Students enrolled in the Paralegal program during the day should be aware that they will be required to attend in the evening to complete the Legal Research course. This is because the county libraries that are visited and utilized during the course are only open to classes during the evening hours. In addition, it may be necessary for students to take other courses with a PLS designation in the evening as well.
